
Getting the Heat Right in Your Snack Machines
When you’re growing a bakery chain, you usually hit a wall: you either spend a fortune on massive ovens or you settle for equipment that just can’t keep up. It’s a frustrating spot to be in. That’s why we use circular infrared (IR) heating tubes. They give you that intense, targeted heat you need without forcing you to buy a machine the size of a garage. Let’s talk about the power. Inside these tubes, there’s a tungsten filament wrapped in high-purity quartz. By tweaking the wattage and voltage, we can dial in exactly how much heat hits the food. If you’re running a high-volume line, you want higher wattage. It gets the machine up to temperature fast. Really fast. One quick tip: make sure the voltage matches your current panel—usually 220V or 380V. Trust me, you don’t want to deal with those clunky step-down transformers. They’re an eyesore and they eat up way too much floor space. Built to actually last. We stick with quartz glass because it lets the heat pass through without wasting energy. Some of our tubes even have a special coating. This is a lifesaver because it protects the glass from grease splatters and keeps the tubes from burning out prematurely. And we kept the maintenance simple. We use standard R7s or SK15 connectors. If a tube blows, your tech can just pop it out and slide a new one in. No rewiring the whole chassis, no headaches, and no long downtime. The balancing act. Here’s the thing: IR tubes are a great way to keep your initial costs down. But because short-wave radiation is so intense, you have to be careful. If you put a high-wattage tube in a tiny space, you’re going to scorch your snacks or, worse, melt the machine’s housing. It’s all about the balance. You have to pair the power of the lamp with the right airflow and cooling fans. When you get that balance right, you get perfectly consistent surface temperatures on every single snack, all while keeping your equipment compact. It’s a simple way to get a serious thermal punch without breaking the bank.
