
Getting the Heat Right for SACMI and Krones Blow-Molding
If you’re running a SACMI rotary machine at full tilt, you know how tight the timing is. There is zero room for error. If your lamps lag—even by a fraction of a second—you’re looking at uneven walls or that annoying pearlescent haze in your bottles. It’s a headache you don’t need. That’s why we built our replacement lamps for Krones Contiform 1/2 and SACMI systems to kill that startup lag.
How we actually make them faster
It comes down to the physics of how a lamp wakes up. We spent a lot of time tweaking the filament’s mass and the quartz envelope’s emissivity. We use a specific halogen cycle to keep the tungsten filament stable. Why? Because generic tubes usually just burn out when they’re forced into the rapid on/off cycling of a rotary machine. By dialing in the gas fill and the filament diameter, we’ve cut down the time it takes for the lamp to hit full infrared power. It’s fast. Really fast.
No fuss, just plug and play
These are drop-in replacements. You won’t have to mess with your wiring or modify your oven racks—they just fit. We use high-purity quartz glass because it can take the thermal shock of heating up instantly without cracking. You’ll notice the heat feels more concentrated. That’s on purpose. We want the preform to hit that glass transition temperature in milliseconds. Plus, we reinforced the end-caps. High-speed rotating carousels vibrate a lot, and the last thing you want is a gas leak.
A quick word of caution
Here’s the thing: high-output lamps put more pressure on your power supplies. If you’re pushing these tubes to the limit to shave a few more seconds off your cycle time,**keep your cooling fans clean.**If your airflow drops, the heat builds up and can actually warp your reflectors. Just make sure your ventilation can handle the wattage you’re throwing at it. Keep it cool, and these lamps will do the heavy lifting for you.
