
Making Sure Your IR Lamps Actually Fit (and Work)
We built our infrared replacement lamps to work with Chumpower blowers and just about every other PET oven you’ll find out there. We aren’t just throwing a “universal” label on the box to make a sale. It’s simpler than that: we just stick to the actual physical and electrical rules of short-wave IR tech. The balance of heat and size Here is the thing about PET preforms: you need the heat to be exactly right. If it’s off, you either get scorched plastic or you don’t hit that “glass transition” sweet spot. That’s why we obsess over the wattage and voltage. Whether your system is 230V or 400V, we tune the filament length and coil density to match the original OEM footprint. If the wattage is too low? Your cycle times crawl. Too high? You’re burning your product. It’s a tightrope walk, and we’ve already done the math for you. The guts of the lamp We use high-purity quartz glass and fill it with halogen gas. Why? Because it lets the lamp run hotter without the filament giving up the ghost prematurely. As for the fit, we use standard R7s or SK15 connectors. They’re the industry gold standard. You can just pull out a dead lamp and pop ours in. No rewiring, no hacking at the lamp holders, no headache. Real-world talk These lamps react instantly. They ramp up fast and cool down just as quickly, which is exactly what you need when you’re blowing bottles at high speeds. But a quick word of advice: pushing high wattage through a small tube puts a lot of stress on your reflection chambers. If your reflectors are dirty or oxidized, you’re wasting heat. That forces the lamps to work harder and run hotter, which kills their lifespan. Do yourself a favor—give those reflectors a good clean before you wire in the new lamps. You’ll get way more hours out of them.
